Press Conference by ADUN Canning and DAPSY National Executive Council, YB Wong Kah Woh on 01.09.2008 at 11.30am at IPD Ipoh:ADUN Canning and DAPSY National Executive Council, YB Wong Kah Woh today has lodged a report against Bukit Bendera UMNO Chief, Datuk Ahmad Ismail. Ahmad Ismail was reported on 25.08.2008 to have said that “orang Cina hanya "menumpang" di Malaysia. Oleh itu, tidak mungkin kita dapat menikmati kesamarataan di kalangan pelbagai bangsa.”
Wong said that Ahmad Ismail’s statement hurt the feelings of the Chinese in Malaysia and of seditious tendency. His refusal to apologize on his statement shows that he has no regret over the statement made. The statement was made at the campaign for Permatang Pauh by-election and clearly with an intention to gain political motives by playing the racial cards. There is a tendency to promote feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races in Malaysia.
“It is also regrettably to note that the PM of Malaysia, YAB Dato Seri Abdullah Badawi, had failed to take drastic action against Ahmad.”
It is also time for the BN’s component parties, MCA, Gerakan and MIC to consider whether to continue stay and work with UMNO in the coalition.
