By Election for Behrang and Changkat Jering

Perak state assembly speaker V Sivakumar had announced that he had received letters of resignation from both Behrang assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mat Radzi and Changkat Jering assemblyperson Osman Jailu and the latters have stepped down as state assemblypersons with immediate effect
Sivakumar declared both the Behrang and Chankat Jering state seats vacant, necessitating two by-elections soon. He added that he will be informing the Election Commission tomorrow about the vacancy. The by-elections for the two state seats will have to be held within 60 days.

Whilst a lot are expecting the duo to cross over to UMNO after missing for 5 days, the resignation at least provide a fair platform for the position of PR and BN to be re-determined by the voters in a democracy way.

We do not know the true reason behind the resignations. Would it be a genuine one or a sandiwara planned by UMNO? However, I started to have a worry now: would the duo, as reported in the Star today, push the blame (again) on the so-called “Ngeh-Nga Factor” and destabilizing the unity of PR in Perak?

Ever since the 308 election and the forming of State Government, a lot of blame (apart from this incident) had been unfairly and unjustly put on the so-called “Ngeh-Nga Factor”. For me, politically and personally, I am not agreeable to that. I would invite all to answer a simple question: Apart from being seen as the main figure in the State Government, have “Ngeh-Nga” committed any wrong or any of the policies made against the People’s interest?

Rumours flying....

Rumours are flying all around. The web reporting had said that DAP Jelapang ADUN YB Hee Yit Foong also “missing”. We do not know how far the word “missing” meant. In normal circumstances, and from my personal experience, due to tight schedule, it is not strange for an Elected Rep to be unable to answer phone calls. However, there are still no news about the Two PKR EXCOs who had been missing for 5 days since the First Day of CNY.

Whatever the situation may be, Canning shall be the strong back bone behind the PR Government.

Let’s pray and hope for the best.

Latest Development of 2 EXCOs

We had just concluded an emergency meeting at MB residence. The meeting was attended by majority of the PR Reps including Dato' Nasaruddin who had crossed over to PR on the CNY eve. Those absentees (with apology) are State EXCOs YB Nga Kor Ming, YB Thomas Su, Deputy Speaker YB Hee Yit Foong, State Assemblyperson YB Yew Tian Hoe and YB Leong Mee Meng.
---
I received the notice of meeting around 10-30pm yesterday night, and i have to abandon my previous plan to go back to my hometown Bidor helping out my parents in their stalls.
---
The meeting started at 9.30am and we are briefed by what actually happened. Apparently the last time the 2 EXCOs were seen was at the last EXCO meeting on Friday. They were incommunicado since 26th January, the first day of CNY.
---
The PR believed that their sudden M.I.A. had very much to do with the corruption charges faced by the Two and the Hearing of the same falls on 10.02.2009. The circumstances show that the whole incident was planned, particularly by the other Sect in the Assembly, in order to regain power. Would the dropping of Charges be used as a consideration of defection? Let us just wait and see...
---
In any event, we shall serve the Public as usual. It is sometime more convenient in getting problems solved when you are in the Government, but it does not mean that we cannot continue the struggle by turning into opposition. We are implenting the good policies and changes when we are in Government now, but we will only change to the role of pushing for good policies and changes in the Government when we are in opposition. That is the only different, at least for me,
---
A lot of things, people and leaders had changed especially after 308. Be it those always seems to support the previous Government previously had become so supportive. Those "leaders" in the party who had shown little interest in the Party (DAP) before 308 had changed and suddenly become so interested in the Party matter.
---
We will see the true faces of these People in the worst event of BN/UMNO succeeded in their plan, which started with the sudden M.I.A. of the Two EXCOs.
---
As at now, no panic, the State Government is still stable and will be working for the People as usual...

Happy Chinese New Year

It has been a long time since I updated my Blog, thousands apologies owed…

I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of you a Happy Chinese New Year. It is now 1.04 am, the eve of the CNY eve. It had been some busy and schedule-tight days this week, both politically and legal practice, as a lot of matters needed to be settled.

Finally, after few days designing or more particularly giving ideas to the Designer to design, comment and amend the design, this Bunting is up in Canning. The Canning Dinner tickets on 14.03.2009 were also ready. And I have just finished writing my Chinese New Year message to be issued to the Press tomorrow, while my wife is sitting beside me to get ready the Ang Pow Packet for CNY.

Today is really a tiring day…

My day started at 8 am today where I went to Simee market to get some CNY materials for the decoration of Simee market (one of the hawker voluntarily said he will help to hang this up if I bought for them, hah, not bad! Thanks for his help) and then settle some case in the Service Centre. At about 10.30am I reached my legal office and the files were piling up (of course a lot of works need to catch up before the long weekend) and later proceed for a pre-arranged lunch appointment with a friend at 12.30 noon at Ipoh Garden Mah Poh. At the same time, I went to Ipoh Garden Jalan Too Jee Lim to ensure that the bamboos trees which had been long complained about had been cleared as promised by the MBI officer, and indeed it had been done and serve as an Ang Pow to the residents (as sms-ed by one of the resident to me, hah!)

It was 2.15 pm when I finished my lunch and got back to office for an appointment with client. The discussion cannot hold long as I need to rush back to my Service Centre in Simee for a simple Cheque presentation Programme for 5 Homes in Ipoh, each RM2,000.00, from the proceed of the Dance Centre Charity Programme which we organized in November last year.

Traffic was heavy although not jammed and it has delayed my earlier plan to meet with a Bank Manager in old town for the exchange of new notes. Finally I reached there from my Service Centre at 4.15pm, go some new notes and had some CNY chit chat before proceeding back to office for an interview.

At around 7.00pm, I brought the Contractor who did the Buntings for me to go round and make sure that all the Buntings are being installed at the right place. After a simple dinner and a quick bath, my members are already waiting for me at he Service Centre for the packing of the oranges – to be distributed tomorrow i.e. 24.01.2009 at Simee market. Thanks all the hard work from them.

I got back home at around 11pm and started surfing the net and writing my CNY message. My eyes started to feel heavy now and tomorrow is another heavy day before I get back to Bidor and help my dad and mum in their mee stalls…

Just to share with you all my schedule tomorrow before I end here…. Happy Chinese New Year!!!

8.15am: Breakfast and Distributing oranges at Simee Market for approximately 2 hours

11.30am: At SUK presenting 20 sets of School Uniforms to the poor students sponsored by Yayasan Perak

2.00pm: Have reunion lunch and in memorial of my father in law at my in law house in Ipoh Garden

4.00pm: Visiting Simee Old Folks Home

Good night….

Wall of racial harmony

A WALL displaying Taman Cempaka’s name in four languages at the neighbourhood’s entrance in Ipoh should not be turned into a controversy, said Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Woh.

He said the move reflected Malaysia’s unique multicultural society which should be the basis of the country’s unity.

He said the wall had to be refurbished to replace the ageing letters for Taman Cempaka, some of which had deteriorated and dropped off over the last 30 years.

“I don’t think it should create any controversy unless a certain political party takes up the issue to gain political mileage,” Wong added.

Last week, Ipoh Timur Umno division chief Datuk Azian Osman reportedly criticised the move, saying that it went against the Federal Constitu- tion which stated that Bahasa Malaysia was the national language.

Azian had also said the multilingual sign was unnecessary as Taman Cempaka was not a tourist area.

Countering this, Wong said: “Bahasa Malaysia is our national language, this we have never doubted.”

The funds for the multilingual sign, he said, came from his assemblyman’s allocation.

To a question, Wong said he had no plans to propose that multilingual signs be used in other parts of Perak, nor does he have plans to put any more multilingual signs at other residential areas in his constituency.

“This (multilingual signs) is not something new. In Bandar Seri Botani and Taman Anda, for instance, there are signboards in two languages put up by the developer,” he pointed out.

Ipoh Timur Pas Youth chief Salman Saleh, who was also present, praised the move as it would help cultivate harmony among the various communities in the area.

“Putting up multilingual signs should also help redeem the status of Jawi writing that has been sidelined since 1963.

“Little by little, it will let the people realise the role of Jawi writing in Malay culture and religion,” he said.
